Mamacitas Mexican Restaurant NASA |
4.2 out of 5 stars |
The spot for some great Mexican food, hands down best house margaritas and appetizers for a great happy hour or family dinner. I'm there at least twice a week! Can't forget the management team and servers who keep it coming!
The hostess had a problem with the messaging system, and didn't care. Said it was our phone. And argued! The food, as always, was spot on. Waiter was great, changed the whole mood!
We came for the breakfast options. My husband really enjoyed the La Patrona. It had menudo, barbacoa, and eggs on the same plate! He absolutely loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Mamacita's plate. Cheese enchiladas with over easy eggs? Divine. The server was kind and friendly.
Oscar is an amazing waiter. His suggestions were spot on and he made sure that we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We had some of the best food we have ever had. Oscar suggested shrimp taquitos, they were amazing! Thank you.
Ehh it was okay. Service needs to be a little better. I never got a refill on my chips and drink for quite some time. Cheese enchiladas tasted real fake, not authentic at all. Queso was not that great either. This place just wasn’t that special. I would choose a different Mexican restaurant before going here again.
The best staff, always accommodating!
Fast and tasty! Met up with some friends here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We chose the location because of convenience and ended up enjoying the meal!
Great food
Great food and enormous servings. Excellent service by our server Carolina and the entire front line staff. Highly recommend but come hungry!!
Waitress very attentive.. great food and service
The 'Go To' place for NASA retirements. Did not have dinner and went to bar for my (too sweet) margarita.
Good food, service was good but the waitress felt entitled not returning my change. I had to ask for it, wasn't leaving a 40% tip.
The food used to be the best. Now they cut back the portions. Don't pay attention to flavor or spices and it doesn't taste good anymore. It used to be the best tasted Mexican food ever. I was going there for years. Now $18 guacamole made with the littlest guacamoles in the smallest amount of tomatoes and onions. Not paying attention to the spices they used to use. Fajitas not tender. Not delicious. I want back my old cook and recipes and prices that was affordable and the portions were larger. Mamacita's used to be the best. Now they're below average. And it makes me sad and I hope they turn it around. I'll keep you posted... if I go back
Ordered take out. I checked my order and it was missing part if it. I think the girl didn't understand the order. It was fixed reall quick As always the food was delicious!
Update....we live in Galveston and come here when we want Mexican food.. always great food and service.. Always great food and service never a miss! Angie took care of us today and was awesome!!!! Excellent service as usual, Fish is always outstanding. I don't know how he bartends and waits the patio. We had breakfast today and it was great.
I came to the bar to drink and eat and I am very disappointed because the manager on duty didn’t do anything after she talk to them👎🏼
Food and service is always great. Love there refried beans and pretty much everything on the menu!! Highly recommended. Go get some Mamacitas mexican food you won't be disappointed!!
I will never return after today. The food was not ready when i ordered had to wait. Ordered green sauce but did not get chips. So after waiting for my order I asked about chips and she got rude and snappy. I don’t know who she is but she just made yall lose me as a customer. I have been coming every week for years TODAY THAT STOPS
Delicious! Update, I had that procedure where you can't eat for almost 2 days, you know the one. Anyway, the only thing I wanted was Mamcitas Migas con Huevos, since I could not drive we ordered delivery, unhappily it arrived without tortillas, I called Mamacita's and after some thoughtful back and forth, the manager jumped in his car and brought me the tortillas AND QUESO! I have been a faithful customer since 1986, he didn't have to, but he did, because I could not drive to pick them up. 5 stars, still a faithful customer.
I ordered a beef chimichanga, there is almost no meat inside!! It’s all tortilla. Such a waste of money, I do not recommend!
I paid $13.50 for this ‘half order of quesadillas’!! It is the tiniest container I’ve ever seen, 6” to be exact. I have been a loyal customer, but after this I will not be returning. This was such a rip off.
Great service and food was delicious!!
Our server was Mayckon, and took amazing care of us. Our drinks and food were amazing. We can't wait to try the blackberry basil margarita next time. We will most definitely be back.
Haven't been here in several years. The service was still good, the food was good. It just seems to have lost the atmosphere it had before the remodel. The prices were higher than expected. Overall, it's still good, just not as good as it used to be.
The building looks nice from the outside, but the food was disappointing and strange- like an aliens idea of what Mexican food should be. Everything—the burrito, enchilada, and tamale—was drowned in red sauce, which overpowered all other flavors. Additionally, the burrito had lettuce inside which wilted since there so much sauce, and bizarrely had raw onions, tomatoes and jalapeños on top of it. My tamale and enchilada were cold, making me think they were frozen and reheated. The rice was bland and oddly had peas and carrots in it. The charro beans looked flavorful but disappointingly the single note was salt, with very few beans, more like a soup. With that being said the salsa, and refried beans were good. For over $30, the NASA Burrito and NASA Plate weren’t worth it. The rice wasn’t touched, and the enchilada and tamale were cold. The “tostada” was small—about the size of a half-dollar and of poor value.
The hostess at Mamacita’s went above and beyond with her kindness. She noticed I was using a cane and asked if the table and area were okay, saying she didn’t want me to have to walk too far. I’ve been using a cane for almost a year, and she’s the first hostess who has ever acknowledged it. That simple gesture meant so much. Our server, Wilson, was just as exceptional—providing warm, attentive service from start to finish. We haven’t been treated with that kind of genuine care in a long time. We started with the queso, then had the fajitas and fajita enchiladas, along with an ice-cold Mexican Coke—everything was absolutely delicious. Thank you, Mamacita’s, for making our visit feel special!
Mamacitas is THE BEST Mexican restaurant in South Houston ! Server Wilson is AMAZING and all of the staff is very attentive and nice. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is friendly, and the staff ROCKS ! My family LOVES, LOVES ❤️ this awesome restaurant! Come out and give it a try-- you will be hooked just as we are !
Great place to meet up with friends
If you go here first then go to San Antonio then you will be in wow mode the entire visit. But since I visited San Antonio first this was definitely not as great it was nice and again the food and staff were awesome just not the same vibe. And the green sauce is definitely better in San Antonio.
First time there today our server was great! I can't remember his name but they called him "Maestro", he was super detailed he mentioned he'd been working there for 15 years and it shows! He definitely knew what he was doing! Food was so soo delicious! Margarita was huge and very good! It's been a while since we've found a place this good. Will definitely be back with more family and friends.
The food and service are excellent! Authentic. Our waiter, Carlitos, deserves a 5 star rating, too. We will return.
The food was not great and it took forever to be waited on. I'm surprised at how popular this place is.
My family and I absolutely loved this place! Amazing service and amazing food! The best Mexican restaurant in the state of Texas!
